10 Unforgettable Awkward Movie Moments

That_Awkward_MomentAccording to That Awkward Moment, there’s a point in a relationship when someone busts out “The So.” One party kicks off the conversation with “so …” and then follows it up with a question that will determine the fate of the relationship – where is this going, what are we doing, etc. We can’t help you avoid “The So” or stop you from tripping and falling, pressing send on an e-mail prematurely or getting caught up in a big fat lie, but at least for the next few minutes you can steer clear of any self-created misunderstandings by indulging in this string of big-screen mishaps that rival the awkwardness of “The So.”

Dress Shopping in Bridesmaids

Doing your business all over expensive bridesmaid dresses is devastating no matter what the circumstances, but what really makes the post-Brazilian feast calamity in Bridesmaids even more effective is the build-up. At first the schvitzing, fidgeting and tummy rumbling seems harmless, especially when you’re discussing whether or not to buy a Fritz Bernaise, but the second one bridesmaid can’t hold it in any longer, it’s a chain reaction of mind-blowingly unladylike incidents until poor Lillian is in the middle of the street, pooping her high-end wedding dress. The two-year-old Lady JuJu gown was too poofy anyway.

Movie Tips: What Not to Bring to a New Year’s Party

Project_XNew Year’s Eve prep should be as simple as keeping good company and having enough champagne and food to carry you through the night, but bringing the wrong person or thing could turn the night into one you’d rather forget. Take a cue from these movies and you should be home free as you make your way into 2014.

Project X – Video Camera

Of course you hope that every night out will be the night of your life and there are good reasons to want to remember it, but when that night involves an excessive amount of illegal activity, booze and destruction like in Project X, you’re better off holding onto your memories rather than hard evidence.

Cast Reunions that Should and Shouldn’t Happen

If you haven’t noticed, this industry loves to use and reuse material, spawning sequels, reboot and now reunions. There’s been a whopping six American Pie movies since the very first hit theaters in 1999, but come Friday, we’ll see the entire original gang back together again for the very first time since 2001’s American Pie 2. Should American Reunion blow away the box office, there’s certainly a good shot reunion movies could become the next big thing and, should that be the case, we’re prepared with some good options, and some not-so-good ones, too.

Spoiler Alert – Plot/movie conclusion discussion ahead!

The Good, The Bad, and the Bogus: High School Party Movies

I did the whole high school party thing back in the day, and things did get crazy once in a while, but I never ended up with a midget in my oven. Have you seen the trailers and clip for Project X? These kids are out of their minds. But, hey, I get it; it was all about upping each other to claim party glory. You had to go big to make it memorable.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Project X looks to raise the stakes big time, but it’s also got some serious competition to become one of the best of the best as far as school party movies go. Where willProject X fall come March 2nd? Here’s the good, bad and bogus of school party movies to give you a sense of the lay of the land.

Cinematical Seven: Epic School Parties

In a genre overrun by tacky romantics movies, a film like ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ is wonderfully refreshing. Yes, it’ll have some romance as Topher Grace’s character bumps into his old high school crush, Tori Trederking (Teresa Palmer), but what sets this film apart from the rest is that it revolves around what could be an absolutely epic party, or, as the film’s tagline suggests, the “Best. Night. Ever.”

Now here’s something we haven’t seen in quite a while. ‘Easy A’ is certainly a hilarious high school comedy, but party-wise, there’s really nothing worthy of the “epic” title and something feels wrong about calling a party epic in a film that actually dubs itself “an epic of epic epicness.” Sorry, ‘Scott Pilgrim.’ Oh, and the trippy casino party in ‘Percy Jackson?’ Not school-related and more of an epic and awkward fail than anything. We’re in need of an onscreen schoolparty that isn’t just a scene in a movie, rather the reason for the movie’s existence – all roads lead to this party. So, before you indulge in what will hopefully be just that in ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ this weekend, check out an epic list of epic pastime favorites.
