Interview: Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’s Kit Harington

Imagine a romantic stroll through a twisted amusement park where you can win bloody rabbit prizes and ride a carousel powered by the Pyramid Head. That’s the date you’re in for should you get together with Kit Harington’s “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D” character, Vincent. Only slightly more appealing than hanging out in the freezing cold surrounded by White Walkers, right?

As the new kid in class, Vincent is friendless so reaches out to Heather (Adelaide Clemens) hoping the newcomers can band together. Constantly on the run with her father (Sean Bean), Heather isn’t in friend-making mode, assuming she’ll pick up and leave again soon enough anyway. However, Vincent is persistent, walks her home and right into her nightmare. Heather’s father has been taken and his captors demand that she come to Silent Hill. The gentleman he is, Vincent insists on escorting her.

With the big return to Silent Hill just days away, Harington took the time to sit down and talk about his progression from “Game of Thrones” to “Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.” We discuss the pressure of managing his character’s backstory, his duty to appease the fans, his love of the horror genre, his hope to finally get to work somewhere warm and more.

SDCC 2012: Game Of Thrones Panel Live Blog

Ready for another big one? Alfie Allen, Emilia Clarke, Michelle Fairley, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Richard Madden, George R. R. Martin and executive producer Carolyn Strauss are all due to hit Hall H at 2:45pm for the “Game of Thrones” panel. Season two only wrapped a month ago, so the group very likely won’t have any visuals to share, but the conversation still should be packed with details, or at least hints at details, of season three.

It’s business as usual, so be sure to keep refreshing the page so you can catch the latest information as it pours in.

2:50 – Things begin with George R.R. Martin. He steps on stage and notes, “There are even more of you than last year!” He thanks everyone for coming. He says he spoke with the showrunners this morning and that they regret they cannot be at the panel today, but gets some cheers when he announces they’re off shooting season three.

SDCC 2012: Perri And Melissa’s San Diego Comic Con Plans For Shockya.com!

We’re in the midst of yet another summer movie season and you know what that means; San Diego Comic Con is here to raise big screen anticipation even further, teasing fans with all the incredible action, stories and stars we’ve got to look forward to.

This time last year I was scrambling to put together a solo schedule for an event I’d never experience before, but this time around, not only am I heading to San Diego as a Comic Con veteran, but I won’t be going alone. Shockya.com will feature SDCC 2012 from both myself and Melissa Molina. Not only am I thrilled to have such a talented teammate, but we’re both very excited to bring you more coverage than ever!

What do you have to look forward to between the two of us? Here’s a brief breakdown of our plans …

SDCC 2011: All Good Things Must Come To An End … With A Giveaway!

I can’t believe it, but this is officially it; my coverage of San Diego Comic Con 2011 has come to a close. For five incredibly long days, the experience went by in a flash. The action was non-stop from the moment I touched down in San Diego and while it was extremely exhausting and probably one of the most trying working experiences I’ve ever gone through, it was beyond worth it.

So, what’d you think? Did you like my coverage choices? Were the formats I chose to report in effective? Do let me know because I’m thrilled to say, it looks as though I’ll be returning to Comic Con next year!

I do know I learned quite a few things for myself while out west. First off, I need to pack more food than a box of granola bars, or at least make time to pick up some items at a local supermarket. Between running around collecting coverage and then writing it up, there’s little to no time to grab a bite. Second, if I want to cover a panel, I’ve either got to get on line at about 5am or hunt down a press pass. I arrived for The Walking Dead panel over three hours early and the line to get into Ballroom 20 was already about 10,000 people long!

SDCC 2011: Saturday Wrap Up And Photos

I can’t believe it, but I’ve reached the finish line. Saturday at San Diego Comic Con 2011 has come to a close. While I’m certainly looking forward to a long day’s rest and not having to lug my hefty laptop around everywhere I go, my coverage schedule wrapping up is a bit sad. At least it all ended on a high note.

Today was another non-stop adventure beginning with Summit Entertainment’s The Darkest Hour presentation. Unlike the big panels in Hall H, this was far more intimate, Summit inviting a group of reporters to a suite in the Hard Rock Hotel to check out some concept art, stills and the film’s trailer. Cast members Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella and Joel Kinnaman were in the house as producers Timur Bekmambetov and Tom Jacobson walked us through the event.

With a little time to kill before The Vampire Diaries press room, I hit the convention center floor to check out the action and snap a few photos one last time. However, some of my favorite images come from the point during which I made my way from the floor to the press room, the photos of the Game of Thrones house banners hanging in the second floor halls.

SDCC 2011: Thursday Wrap Up And Photos

And that’s a wrap on my first full busy day at San Diego Comic Con. I kicked things off at the press conference for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, which featured Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart after which Bill Condon, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner took the stage. Before wrapping up things with Summit Entertainment, I spoke with the writer of one of the studio’s next book-to-film adaptations, Warm Bodies author Isaac Marion. Keep an eye out for that interview later this week.

From there it was off to the convention center where I spent some time checking out the goods including vendor booths like MIMOBOT (more to come from them later this week) and studio presentations like Lionsgates’ booth which is all decked out in Hunger Games’ flaming glory.

Time flew fast, so from there it was a brisk walk over to Ballroom 20 where author George R.R. Martin proudly presented the cast and writers who brought the first book of his A Song of Ice and Fire series to life, Game of Thrones. Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Jason Momoa and writers, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were all on hand to talk about their experience working on the show’s first season, the goodies that will come with the season one DVD as well as a bit of what to expect for season two and beyond.

SDCC 2011: Game Of Thrones Panel LIVE

Ballroom 20 is just about packed to the brim, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise because Game of Thrones is on deck to take the stage. Once things kick off, be sure to keep refreshing your browser as I’ll be continually updating the page with the latest information.

It’s just after 3:00pm and here we go. The author of the books, George R.R. Martin takes the stage.

3:06 – First up is a short video presentation sampling what we’ve seen this past season. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is a fan favorite and gets a nice cheer during her clips. Oddly enough, it’s her on-screen brother, Harry Lloyd’s (Viserys Targaryen) clip that received the bigger reception as the montage feature a certain crown for a king.
