No doubt parents everywhere are thrilled to send the youngsters (back)packing, but for kids … it’s sucky and we know it. To make going back to school slightly more bearable, here are 15 movies that’ll have kids walking the halls with a smile.

Torrance Shipman is a high school senior, so this is her year. Not only does she get to be captain of the Rancho Carne cheerleading squad, but this is also the last time she’ll have the opportunity to help the Toros win a national title. Lesson: Bring it on; savor the opportunity and aim high like Torrance.

9 Big-Screen Bad Girls You Love To Hate

Who doesn’t love a big-screen bad girl?

On October 7th, Juno Temple hits the big screen as Danielle in Dirty Girl, a sassy teen growing up in Oklahoma and a self-proclaimed whore. Living up to her bad reputation, Danielle convinces another school outcast Clarke (Jeremy Dozier) to steal his father’s car with which the two make a mad dash to Los Angeles so Clarke can escape the ridicule and she can find her father.

Most prefer to steer clear of firebrands like Danielle in real life, but on film they can be some of the most colorful people to spend time with. While Temple’s character isn’t nearly as ruthless and mean-spirited as some of these ladies, Dirty Girl is certainly an excellent excuse to look back at some awesome big-screen female baddies.

8 Great Big-Screen Teachers

After going through years and years of schooling, how many in-class lessons do you actually remember? Now, after years and years of moviegoing, how many big-screen lessons do you remember? While I can barely recall my French vocabulary words, standard high school mathematics or chemistry formulas, I’ve got no problem recounting some of the best of the best from on-screen educators like Harry Potter’s Professor Dumbledore and even School of Rock’s so-called Mr. Ned Schneebly.

In honor of the June 24th release of Bad Teacher, in which Cameron Diaz will likely taint our minds as a “booze-swilling, pot-smoking, hard-swearing” middle school teacher, why not take a look back at some big-screen lessons that actually ring true? (And maybe some that are just downright hilarious, too.)
