Review: The To Do List

The_To_Do_List_PosterIt’s a little too silly to sustain a significant character journey, but “The To Do List” is still a successful overload of nostalgic and incredibly raunchy humor.

Brandy (Aubrey Plaza) is graduating high school as the class valedictorian, but she’s bossy, socially awkward and, worst of all, sexually inexperienced. When her friends Fiona and Wendy (Alia Shawkat and Sarah Steele) force her to go to a normal party, Brandy catches a glimpse of college hottie Rusty Waters (Scott Porter) and is determined to make him her first. But before she can make the leap and accomplish full-blown sex, she’s got to build up her resume with things like hand jobs, blowjobs, dry humping, cunnilingus, and more.

It’s a little tough to buy that someone as bright as Brandy, and also someone with friends like Fiona and Wendy would ever think completing a massive to do list of sexual feats with anyone and everyone available is a smart and safe idea, but it works because “The To Do List” doesn’t hold back in the least. From the moment the opening credit start rolling and 2 Live Crew’s “Me So Horny” kicks in, you get a sense of what you’re in for.

Flint, his family and friends are thrilled that he managed to destroy the machine and save the day, but now Swallow Falls needs some serious cleaning-up. Live Corp. bigwig and Flint’s hero, Chester V (voiced by Will Forte), swoops in to get the job done, but requires that everyone vacate the town while he takes care of business.

Flint relocates to San Fran Jose, California and takes a job at Live Corp., an idea factory that employs only the best and the brightest. It’s there that Chester V calls upon Flint for help. In order to clean up Swallow Falls, they need to track down the FLDSMDFR, but the Live Corp. team can’t manage to find it. Eager to please his idol, Flint agrees to head home to locate it himself.

Director Genndy Tartakovsky Unveils A Sneak Peek At Hotel Transylvania

What can you expect from Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania? Candy eyeballs, gummy worm-topped cakes and fogging drinks, of course! Okay, you probably shouldn’t have your hopes up for all of that, but come September 28th, Hotel Transylvania should offer up all the fun you’d hope for in a comedy packed with animated versions of your favorite mythical monsters.

However, it’s not September 28th just yet, so in an effort to get us in the Hotel Transylvania spirit, just like in the movie, the folks behind the film planned a 118th birthday party for Mavis, Dracula’s daughter and the character voiced by Selena Gomez. There were party hats, appropriately themed treats, the opportunity to take a photo with Dracula’s hotel in the backdrop and more. As much fun as the party portion of the event was, it was easy to leave behind as a sneak peek of the film awaited us in the theater.
